Although we are mainly engagement/wedding/boudoir and senior session photographers, we are firm believers in constant education through classes, seminars, and participating in photography opportunities that are out of the norm for us.  From fine art to nature to male models, we love to shoot “outside the box” because it challenges us and keeps us on your photographic toes, so to speak!

A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to photograph Carter–he is breaking into the modeling business and needed to get a portfolio ready.  So, we were happy to take on this task!  Carter brought his friend, Monica, who has experience with the wardrobe and artistic side of modeling for photo shoots (she actually worked in Italy this past year) and we went to work!

We wanted to do a pretty big range of images for him in order to have him ready for any type of modeling offer he might get–so we went from formal to edgy, serious to comic–we did both in-studio and on-location at one of my very favorite super-secret outdoor shooting places.

NOTE:  We do have permission from Carter to post these images–toward the end they are bit “edgier” and include some showing of the male form, so please take this into account if you are on the conservative side.

I absolutely love them–we shot a ton of images, but here are some of our favorites that I am sure will look great in the portfolio!

Carter is a snowboarder, loves to work out and take yoga classes, is incredibly intelligent and has a great career in finance.  I really admire his determination to go for his dream and try to break into the modeling realm!  I know that he is going to do it and we can say that we knew him before he was a star!

Love that off-camera lighting we use for every single shoot we do–engagements, weddings, etc.  It makes such a difference!

It was getting really dark, so we used both our own lighting and the headlights of the car to do this shot–

Now, these are a little more on the edgy side–you have been warned!  Nothing major, but there is some skin and a little non-conservative posing and composition!

I love the shoots that David Beckham does, so we went for the grit, too!
